Makeup trends that remind me of playing dress-up

So I was reading through the latest addition of a very popular fashion & beauty magazine, when I came upon new beauty tips.  Being a woman who has always loved makeup & new beauty tips, I was instantly drawn to the article.  Some of the tips were fun & things I had never tried, however other tips made me questions who the heck they thought would actually be wearing them.  They suggested bold & bright colors like pink, yellow & blue on the eyes.  So today, when I knew that I would not be venturing out into the world, I decided to try there so called "spring fashion tips".  I took out my bright pink (which came with other colors that I do actually use) and I applied it to my eyelid.  When I was done, I did not feel chic or modern.  I felt like a little girl playing dress up.  I felt stupid.  When my daughter came into the room & said, "wow you look so pretty", I knew that in her eyes I was.  In her eyes she saw the bright color of pink that she is drawn to, and she loved it.  Because she's four and not makeup savvy.  They say you don't know until you try, well I tried and I don't like.  So beauty magazines, your bright yellows & pinks don't belong on anyone but a strangely, impracticality dressed super-model, not on a modern woman.  After I was done looking in the mirror in horror, I did allow my daughter to have the same style of makeup as myself, accompanied by a very bright matching pink lipstick that I would never wear.

  1. Sometimes it feels like a lot of folks my age play at being adults instead of taking the time to really think about what they're doing. And when they fail to follow your example, we all see them strutting around with their "spring fashion".
